Domaine Paul Kubler - Nuances de Néroli - Gewurztraminer 2018
Domaine Paul Kubler is located in Soultzmatt in Alsace. The estate was created by Camille Kubler, and passed on to Paul in 1947 who contributed to the reputation of the estate and developed the vineyard to its current size of ten hectares. Today, the estate is run by his son Philippe, drawing on his experience in Burgundy, Bordeaux and New Zealand. The vineyard is over 30 years old on average, and each variety is planted according to the geology of the soil in order to obtain the best expression of the grape. The vines are protected by herbal preparations and natural substances, the soils are ploughed and nourished with compost, respecting nature and its rhythms. The estate produces three ranges of wines: fruity wines or the "Kubler signature" (blends from different vineyards), terroir wines (from Crus Breitenberg, Weingarten and Grand Cru Zinnkoepfle) and sweet wines from late harvests and selection of noble grains.
Nuances de Neroli is made from Gewürztraminer whose vines were planted in 1981, 1985, 1997, 2005 and 2010. Whole bunches are gently pressed for 5 hours. After a light settling, fermentation lasts 1 month in stainless steel vats. The aging is carried out in stainless steel vats on total lees until spring, then on fine lees until bottling on August 28, 2019. This wine is off-dry with 25 g/L of residual sugars.
