Château ROC DE CAMBES 1991
Château Roc de Cambes is located in the Côtes de Bourg appellation, in Bordeaux . The Château was purchased in 1988 by François and Emilie Mitjavile , who also owned Château Le Tetre-Rôteboeuf in Saint-Emilion. It produces a Bordeaux blended wine based on Merlot and a Second Wine (Domaine de Cambes) sold under the Bordeaux AOC appellation. The vineyard extends over 12 hectares and the vines, planted on deep clay-limestone soils, are around 50 years old.
Roc de Cambes is made predominantly from Merlot , with a smaller proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec . It is vinified in concrete vats at a controlled temperature before aging in barrels in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new , for 24 months . The 1991 vintage for Bordeaux experienced severe spring frosts, and very low temperatures caused significant damage to the vineyards. Summer arrived and the weather recovered, but then extremely heavy rains hit in September and October. The deluge caused the development of diseases in several appellations.
Grapes: 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec
