Domaine du Gros Noré - Bandol Rouge 2012
Domaine du Gros Noré is located in La Cadière-d'Azur, in the Bandol appellation area in Provence . The wine estate was founded in 1997 by Alain Pascal , and its name pays homage to his father, Honoré, nicknamed Gros Noré because of his overweight. The 19 hectares of vines are planted on the northern slopes of the village on clay soils. The vines are swept by the Mistral, bringing relative humidity to the foliage with its spray, and drying the land, so the grapes benefit from an exceptional health condition. The proximity of the sea also brings a salty side to the wines and liveliness. The vineyard has been run in certified organic farming since the 2021 vintage.
Bandol Rouge is a blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan whose vines vary in age from 40 to 60 years. Each plot is harvested manually then vinified separately in vats with native yeasts. Aging lasts 18 months in large barrels of 25 to 60 hectoliters.
