SAVANNA - The Very Rare Cask - 2nd Release - 2001 - 17 years - 51%
The Savanna Distillery is located on Reunion Island . It was designed and built by Emile Hugot between 1948 and 1950. At the time, located in Saint Paul, it was annexed to the sugar factory of the same name. In 1982 , the Savanna Distillery acquires a distillation workshop whose production is only intended for the manufacture of light rum for export, following the signing of a major rum supply contract with a German client. leader in its market. This acquisition was, for Distillerie de Savanna, the trigger for the development of its rum technology, which has multiplied, from that year onwards, the diversification and quality of its productions. Today, Savanna Distillery exports the majority of its rum production to professionals. Like many rum distilleries, the Savanna Distillery is equipped with discontinuous fermentation , also called the "mother tank" process, consisting of 8 100 m3 fermenters and all of its satellites. This discontinuity is synonymous with the obtaining high quality product.
The Very Rare Casks collection presents its second edition. Savanna's most precious Single Casks, after a long period of aging in their tropical cellar on the edge of the Indian Ocean. This grand aroma rum was distilled in 2001, a fermentation of more than 6 days and aged for 17 years in a single ex-cognac barrel. Only a few bottles available in mainland France.
