Here is the return flight of this original project, born in 2023 around Savanna’s most exceptional distillate, and the encounter of two great rum enthusiasts: the Savanna team with Samuel, and Michael Barbaria, founder of Swell de Spirits. Two big names in the world of fine spirits have come together to create an exceptional series!

The HERR is a one-of-a-kind High Esters Rum, as rare as it is exuberant—a true concentrate of fruit and indulgence; a fabulous invitation to travel to Réunion Island.

For this second chapter of the Savanna Herrline series, Mika selected cask No.215 to age for 8 years a blend of traditional column rum (C20) and HERR 2009 (pot still), producing this TH1 release. The barrels are ex-Cognac. The rum is made from Bois Rouge molasses and was bottled at natural cask strength: 59.5%. A total of 733 bottles were produced, with only a very small share available for the mainland French market.

Tasting notes:

This new Herrline is captivating at first glance, with its bright and warm copper hue. The nose opens with intense aromatics, combining generous exotic notes with an elegant vanilla woodiness—the signature of its maturation influenced by HERR 2009, bringing both structure and complexity. On the palate, softness prevails, with toasted cocoa aromas and a well-balanced sweetness. A subtle astringency adds balance, extending the tasting experience with a beautiful length, punctuated by a fruity echo in retro-olfaction. The finish, both vibrant and perfectly balanced, prolongs this harmonious experience where every element, from nose to palate, comes together to deliver a truly pleasurable moment.
