De Distilleerderij Bologne bevindt zich in Guadeloupe. Ze is actief sinds 1887 en dankt haar naam aan de vroegere eigenaars van de suikerfabriek die gevestigd was op de vruchtbare hellingen van La Soufrière. De Bologne-familie, protestants, migreerde tijdens de godsdienstoorlogen naar Nederland en vestigde zich vanaf 1580 in Brazilië (dat toen een Nederlandse kolonie was) om daar suikerriet te verbouwen. De Bologne arriveerden in 1654 in Guadeloupe nadat ze uit Brazilië en vervolgens uit Martinique waren verdreven. De suikerplantage Bologne kende door de eeuwen heen ups en downs, zoals alle suikerfabrieken uit die tijd, gerelateerd aan de geschiedenis en de Franse Revolutie. Onder impuls van Louis Sargenton-Callarden in 1930 specialiseerde de plantage zich in de productie van Rhum Agricole.

Neisson was born during the inter-war years in 1931 when the brothers Adrien and Hildebert Pamphile, said Jean Neisson, bought the house La Thieulbert then provided with 20 ha of plantations. It is located in the north-west of the island, not far from Saint-Pierre, at the foot of the Pelée mountain and the older brother Adrien then undertakes to set up a small distillery while his younger brother Jean Neisson finishes his studies at Paris. While the eldest produces the rums in Martinique, the cadet sets up an import-export company following his studies and then begins to market rums in Paris. However, he is passionate about production and will make his years of studies profitable by ordering a modified Savalle column for the distillery according to his instructions to improve the quality of his rums.
Today, it is still the family Neisson who is at the head of the family distillery (one of the last in Martinique) and the house continues to provide exclusively canes of its own 40 hectares of canes.
This XO rum from Neisson was bottled in a full proof version at 54.2%. For this vintage, the rum was first aged in cognac casks from March 25, 2006, and was then transferred to Bourbon casks in October 2014. In all, 5 barrels of 190 liters were used before the fermentation. bottling, July 28, 2017. This double aging of 11 years is certainly at the origin of the elegance of this rum XO.
