Distilleriet Bologne ligger i Guadeloupe. Det har varit i drift sedan 1887 och har fått sitt namn från de tidigare ägarna av sockerrörsplantagen som låg på de bördiga sluttningarna av La Soufrière. Bologne-familjen, som var protestanter, migrerade till Holland under religionskrigen och bosatte sig redan 1580 i Brasilien (som då var en holländsk koloni) för att odla sockerrör där. Bologne anlände till Guadeloupe 1654 efter att ha blivit utvisade från Brasilien och sedan från Martinique. Sockerrörsplantagen Bologne har genom århundradena haft sina upp- och nedgångar, som alla sockerrörsplantager på den tiden, kopplade till historien och den franska revolutionen. Det var under ledning av Louis Sargenton-Callarden 1930 som plantagen specialiserade sig på produktion av Rhum Agricole.

Neisson was born during the inter-war years in 1931 when the brothers Adrien and Hildebert Pamphile, said Jean Neisson, bought the house La Thieulbert then provided with 20 ha of plantations. Today, it is still the family Neisson who is at the head of the family distillery (one of the last in Martinique) and the house continues to provide exclusively canes of its own 40 hectares of canes.
This XO rum from Neisson was bottled in a full proof version at 54.2%. For this vintage, the rum was first aged in cognac casks from March 25, 2006, and was then transferred to Bourbon casks in October 2014. In all, 5 barrels of 190 liters were used before the fermentation. bottling, July 28, 2017. This double aging of 11 years is certainly at the origin of the elegance of this rum XO.
