Château COUTELIN MERVILLE 2015
Château Coutelin-Merville 2015, located north of Saint-Estèphe, belongs to a generation of crus bourgeois that sincerely express the depth and integrity of the Médoc terroir. The estate, family-owned for four generations, rests on well-drained clay and gravel soils, ideal conditions for producing wines that are both powerful and balanced.
The warm and perfectly controlled 2015 vintage allowed for even ripeness of the grapes and very soft tannins. The classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot was vinified with precision, then aged for approximately twelve months in oak barrels, including a proportion of new barrels measured to preserve the purity of the fruit.
The nose reveals seductive aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry, and violet, accompanied by notes of sweet spices, vanilla, and blond tobacco. On the palate, the wine displays remarkable balance: dense body, ripe tannins, and a velvety texture. The full and harmonious mid-palate highlights the roundness of the Merlot and the structure of the Cabernet. The long and flavorful finish evokes mocha, noble wood, and a slightly minty touch.
A charming and well-constructed Saint-Estèphe, at its peak now, but capable of aging for a few more years. It will pair perfectly with grilled rib-eye steak, duck confit, or mature hard cheese. Serve between 16 and 17°C.
Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot
