CHICHIBU - 10 years old - 2014 - Single Cask #10416 - Oloroso Sherry - Itinéraires - 62.30%
The Chichibu 10 Year Old 2014 Single Cask #10416 – Oloroso Sherry, bottled at 62.30%, is an exclusive edition from the Chichibu distillery, founded by Ichiro Akuto in Japan in 2008. Located in Saitama Prefecture, around 100 kilometers from Tokyo, this artisanal distillery quickly established itself as a world reference thanks to the precision of its distillates, the quality of its aging and the uniqueness of its terroir.
Made from a single Oloroso sherry cask, this ten-year-aged single malt showcases Ichiro Akuto's mastery of blending power and complexity. Chichibu's contrasting climate of cold winters and hot summers accelerates maturation, resulting in a whisky of exceptional depth. This vintage, selected for the Itinéraires series, was bottled at cask strength, without chill-filtering or coloring, to preserve all of its aromatic richness and original texture.
The nose opens with remarkable intensity: dried fruits, nuts, dates, aged leather, and bitter cocoa, enriched with notes of noble wood and deep sherry. On the palate, the strength of the alcohol content melts into a dense and silky texture. Flavors of dark chocolate, fig, candied grapes, and blood orange mingle with touches of spice, coffee, and toasted hazelnut. The finish, endless, stretches with nuances of toasted oak, muscovado, and elegant rancio.
An exceptional single cask from the Itinéraires series released during the Whisky Book 2025, of rare intensity and exemplary Japanese precision, to be enjoyed slowly, neat or slightly diluted to reveal all its aromatic layers.
