Clos Constantin - Polissons 2025
Clos Constantin is one of the most dynamic estates in the current Languedoc region, located in Argelliers, in the hinterland of Montpellier. Led by Pierre Halley and Samuel Durand, the estate quickly established itself with precise, lively wines deeply rooted in their garrigue environment. The vineyard benefits from a cool and breezy area, at the heart of a landscape of stones, oaks, woods, and Mediterranean hillsides. Organic farming, complemented by a biodynamic approach, supports this quest for balance, freshness, and purity of fruit. The Polissons 2025 represents the estate's flagship cuvée, the one that most clearly expresses its free, joyful, and gourmand style. This red AOC Languedoc embodies a contemporary vision of Southern wine, lighter, more digestible, and less marked by extraction. It is a cuvée of immediate pleasure, becoming essential for lovers of fresh, supple, and incredibly drinkable reds.
The Polissons 2025 cuvée is based on a co-fermentation of Cinsault, Grenache, and Syrah, three Mediterranean grape varieties worked here with a spirit of lightness and brightness. The Cinsault brings finesse, an airy touch, fluidity, and a sensation of crunchy red fruit. The Grenache adds flesh, gourmandise, and a sunnier dimension, while remaining perfectly contained by the freshness of the place. The Syrah completes the ensemble with notes of black fruits, pepper, violet, and sweet spices. Co-fermentation allows the grape varieties to build a natural harmony together, without trying to juxtapose the characters afterward. Aging in tanks, without wood, preserves the fruit's energy, sapidity, and spontaneity of the wine. The 2025 vintage reinforces this impression of juicy, thirst-quenching, and very accessible red, with a relaxed mouthfeel and a finish full of freshness.
In the glass, Clos Constantin Les Polissons 2025 reveals a bright ruby red robe, light and full of brilliance. The nose opens on raspberry, cherry, wild blackberry, and fresh plum, with nuances of thyme, garrigue, grey pepper, and a touch of green olive. The palate is supple, juicy, and immediately pleasant, carried by ripe but fresh fruit. The tannins are fine, discreet, and silky, giving the wine a light texture without ever making it simple. The finish is thirst-quenching, sapid, and slightly spicy, with an energy that naturally calls for a second sip. This red can be served slightly chilled, around 14 to 15°C, to accentuate its crunchy and gourmand side. It will perfectly accompany tapas, a charcuterie board, grilled meats, roasted vegetables, artisanal pizza, simple Mediterranean cuisine, or a cheese with character.
