Dolin Bitter de Chambéry 16% – Authentic French Aperitif
Bitter de Chambéry from Dolin, with an alcohol content of 16%, is a refined and emblematic expression of Savoyard expertise. Founded in 1821 in Chambéry, Dolin is one of the last French houses to craft its aperitifs and vermouths using traditional methods, using natural macerations of Alpine plants and spices. True to this heritage, Bitter de Chambéry is distinguished by its balance between bitterness, freshness, and aromatic elegance.
Made from a selection of citrus peels, gentian, rhubarb, and mountain plants, this bitter combines a subtle bitterness with a floral and fruity complexity. Its slow infusion in a white Savoie wine gives the whole a silky texture and a precise, typically French aroma, far from overly sweet or excessive bitters.
The nose opens with notes of blood orange, grapefruit, and bitter root, enhanced by a touch of cinchona and cinnamon. On the palate, the attack is fresh and lively, carried by a delicate and controlled bitterness. Flavors of candied citrus, alpine herbs, and sweet spices intertwine in a clean, lingering, slightly zesty finish.
Enjoy neat over ice, as an aperitif topped up with sparkling water, or as a cocktail base, particularly in a French Negroni or a Savoyard Spritz.
