Domaine Camin Larredya - La Part Davant 2024
Domaine Camin Larredya is located in La Chapelle de Rousse, in the Jurançon wine region. It has been owned by Jean-Marc Grussaute since 1988 and was voted "Winemaker of the Year 2023". The Camin Larredya vineyard covers 9.5 hectares, 4 hectares of which are cultivated on terraces. The vines are managed using certified organic farming methods , and each vintage comes from a specific plot. The estate also purchases conventional grapes from Christian Pédéflous and Philippe Vigneau and Sylvie and David Lacazette.
La Part Davant is a blend of Gros Manseng (50%), Petit Manseng (35%) and Petit Courbu (15%) grown in the eastern part of the vineyard. The vines are aged between 10 and 80 years old and are planted on a clay-siliceous terroir on weathered puddingstone subsoils. After manual harvesting, the whole bunches are put into direct pressing. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in 225-litre barrels, 5% of which are new, and in 2,500-litre tuns. Malolactic conversion is partially carried out. The wine is aged for 6 months on lees , in terracotta jars (34%), in 225-litre barrels (33%) and in 2,500-litre tuns (33%).
This is an emblematic Jurançon cuvée, revealing all the finesse and precision of the estate. Its nose seduces with intense aromas of exotic fruits , candied citrus fruits and white flowers , subtly enhanced with hints of honey. On the palate, the balance is remarkable: a lively freshness carried by a beautiful mineral tension combines with a full and creamy substance, offering a persistent and elegant finish. A wine of character, both gourmet and refined, which embodies the excellence of Camin Larreyda and which will seduce both lovers of great sweet wines and collectors in search of rarity.
