Domaine de l'Arlot - Clos de l'Arlot Monopole 2023
Located in Premeaux-Prissey, south of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine de l'Arlot cultivates certified organic and biodynamic vines to express the purity of the limestone outcrops. Clos de l'Arlot is a historic walled monopole. Its cool exposure and soils of marl and fine limestone produce Pinot Noir grapes with a delicate texture and remarkable aromatic precision.
Clos de l'Arlot 2023, a monopole, is a red wine made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes. The grapes are harvested at precise ripeness, meticulously sorted, partially destemmed according to the specific characteristics of each plot, and then fermented with indigenous yeasts. Extractions are gentle to preserve the wine's mouthfeel, followed by aging in lightly toasted oak barrels, with a limited proportion of new oak to retain the vibrancy of the fruit and the chalky character of the terroir. Bottling takes place without fining or unnecessary filtration to preserve the wine's texture.
The nose opens with fresh raspberry, morello cherry, and wild strawberry, joined by peony, dried rose, and a hint of orange peel. The palate displays a precise attack followed by a silky texture. The mid-palate combines juicy red fruits, sweet spices, and a discreet saline structure that lengthens the wine. The tannins are fine and chalky, precise, supported by a direct acidity that maintains the length. The finish is long and vibrant, with lingering notes of rose petals, cherry pit, and a hint of flint.
At the table, this single-origin wine pairs beautifully with roast veal fillet, pigeon with chanterelles, quail stuffed with herbs, or black truffle risotto. It also complements cardoon gratin, glazed root vegetables, or a mature Brie de Meaux, which highlights its delicate flavor without masking its freshness.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
