Domaine des Marnes Blanches - Coup de Jus - Zeus 2024
Coup de Jus Zeus 2024 from Domaine des Marnes Blanches is the most playful and immediate facet of the estate, a pure pleasure red that never forgets precision. Made from Grenache harvested at perfect ripeness on southern terroirs, it presents a clear ruby robe, bright, almost translucent. The nose bursts with fresh strawberry, raspberry, red fruit coulis, and a hint of tangy candy, enhanced by a light garrigue note. On the palate, the attack is very juicy, with a crunchy fruit that fills the palate without ever weighing it down. The texture is fluid, slippery, supported by a digestible acidity that gives the wine an engaging mouth rhythm. The low alcohol content accentuates this impression of lightness and drinkability, while retaining true depth. The crunchy and slightly spicy finish leaves the mouth fresh and immediately calls for another glass.
In line with the Coup de Jus range, Zeus 2024 is born from grapes sourced from friendly growers working in organic farming, respecting the soil and living organisms. Whole clusters are fermented without crushing for a predominantly carbonic maceration at low temperature, which preserves the primary aromatic profile of Grenache. This approach favors a delicate extract, ultra-fine tannins, and vibrant fruit rather than power or concentration. Fermentation takes place with only indigenous yeasts, without unnecessary additives, to preserve the natural energy of the juice. Aging in tanks and old barrels on fine lees for several months rounds off the edges without marking the wine with wood or causing it to lose its tension. Sulfur doses remain limited to the strict minimum, in the spirit of a pure, lively, and immediately accessible wine. The result is a vibrant red, with imperceptible tannin grain, that glides with disconcerting ease while maintaining a true personality.
Zeus 2024 is the ideal companion for moments of sharing, large gatherings, and simple but flavorful cuisine. Served slightly chilled around 13 to 14 °C, it pairs wonderfully with a platter of fine charcuterie, a light raclette, tapas, bistro-style dishes, or a wood-fired pizza. Its fluid texture and vibrant fruit also make it an excellent partner for plant-based cuisine, such as roasted vegetables, a gratin of sun vegetables, or a vegetarian burger. Its gourmand profile invites tasting it in its early years to fully enjoy its fruit brightness, refreshing character, and very “glug-glug” dimension. A short aging of two to three years will nevertheless allow it to gain roundness and notes of jammy red fruits without losing its freshness. It is a free, joyful red, signed by a highly demanding estate, proving that a thirst-quenching wine can be perfectly structured and seriously accomplished. It wonderfully sums up the Coup de Jus spirit: fun in the glass, with the same care as a great gastronomic wine.
