Old Castle Saint André 2022
The 2022 Vieux Château Saint-André, owned by the Berrouet family in Montagne-Saint-Émilion, embodies the finesse and precision characteristic of the wines created by Jean-Claude Berrouet, the renowned oenologist of Château Pétrus. The estate benefits from a clay-limestone terroir typical of the right bank, where the Merlot expresses all its aromatic richness and silky texture.
The 2022 vintage, marked by a warm but balanced summer, produced concentrated and perfectly ripe grapes. The wine is composed mainly of Merlot, with a touch of Cabernet Franc, and was vinified gently to preserve the fruit and freshness. Partial aging in French oak barrels, finely dosed, brings structure and complexity without overpowering the character of the terroir.
The nose seduces with its precise aromas of ripe red fruits, black cherry and violet, enhanced by notes of graphite and light vanilla. On the palate, the attack is supple and harmonious; the wine displays a dense but fluid body, supported by fine tannins and perfectly integrated acidity. The finish, long and flavorful, expresses touches of mocha, sweet spices and juicy black fruits.
An elegant and authentic Montagne-Saint-Émilion, true to the Berrouet style: balance, moderation, and purity of expression. Enjoy now or after a few years of aging. Serve between 16 and 17°C.
