The 33 hectares of vines of Château Troplong Mondot, a Saint-Émilion classified B Grand Cru, are almost an anomaly in an appellation where the average size is less than 10 hectares. They are located on the Mondot hill which rises to 100 meters, on the limestone plateau which surrounds the village as well as on the steep slope which goes to the coast of Pavia . In short, exceptional terroirs, both well exposed and drained.
In these soils, you will find flint, limestone, clay , all things appreciated by the 3 grape varieties of this cuvée, merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon, the first counting for 90% and the other two for 5% each.
After a carefully sorted manual harvest, the vinification takes place in thermoregulated stainless steel vats before aging in new 3-quarter barrels for a period of 12 to 24 months depending on the structure of the vintage .
Powerful, structured, with ample and complex tannins, with a nose of truffles and blackberries, the first wine from Château Troplong Mondot is one of Saint-Émilion's finest achievements.
