CLOS FOURTET 1981
Le Clos Fourtet is located in Saint-Emilion , in the Bordeaux region. It was classified Premier Grand Cru Classé in the classification of Saint-Emilion. Formerly called Camp Fourtet (“Little Fort”), it was designed to protect the city of Saint-Emilion in the Middle Ages. Winemaking at the property began in the 18th century. Clos Fourtet underwent several changes of owners during the 20th century before being bought by the Cuvelier family in 2001. The vineyard extends over 20 hectares in one piece and is managed in a sustainable way with the use of biological treatments and biodynamic methods, not certified. The grounds of the estate are naturally fertilized by their cows and the ecosystem is reinforced by the presence of wild flowers and shrubs.
1981 is recognized as a great vintage in the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation.
