Château DUHART MILON ROTHSCHILD 2000
Pauillac
The vineyard of Château Duhart-Milon is almost a block on the west side of Château Lafite Rothschild, on the hillside of Milon, which extends the plateau of the Carruades de Lafite. Château Duhart-Milon's property includes 76 ha of vines. The soils are fine gravel mixed with Aeolian sands on a subsoil of tertiary limestone. The 76 ha of vines are divided into Cabernet Sauvignon (67%) and Merlot (33%). The average age of the vineyard is 30 years old.
The management of the property has been carried out since 1962 by a single team overseeing Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Duhart-Milon given the contiguity of the two properties. Eric Kohler, Technical Director of the Châteaux Bordelais, is assisted by Christophe Congé, Oenologist and Winemaker, and Louis Caillard, Manager of the vineyards.
The techniques used are quite identical between the two Châteaux and remain traditional, they incorporate a strict control of the yields, a harvest by hand and many works done manually throughout the year.
