Domaine Pithon Paillé - Grololo 2019
Domaine Pithon-Paillé operates 13 hectares of organically grown vines, certified Qualité France. The vines are located in Saint-Lambert du Lattay (Bonnes Blanches), in Saint-Aubin de Luigné (La Fresnaye), in Beaulieu sur Layon (Coteau des Treilles), in Rochefort sur Loire (Quarts de Chaume) and Savennières. The wines produced are aged in barrels and wooden vats for 10 to 18 months depending on the cuvées.
Domaine Pithon-Paillé was created in early 2008 by Isabelle and Jo Pithon in partnership with Wendy and Joseph Paillé. Jo Pithon has been a winemaker for over 30 years, and Isabelle for 20 years. Joseph, son of Isabelle, has been working in the vineyards since the age of 13.
This cuvée owes its name to the grape variety that constitutes it: Grolleau (or Groslot), a minority but historic grape variety from Anjou, which produces slightly tannic wines with lots of fruit and generosity. A fairly sustained red color with a nose of ripe notes of red fruit.
Grape variety: 100% Grolleau
