GLENFIDDICH - Project XX - Coffret expérimental - 47%
Glenfiddich is located in Dufftown, in the Speyside region of Scotland. The distillery was founded in 1886 by William Grant, who built the distillery himself, with the help of his nine children. The introduction of Prohibition in the United States in 1920 was disastrous for most distilleries in Scotland, but Glenfiddich saw an opportunity. It was one of six distilleries still operational at the time, and its management team actually increased production during the period. Therefore, Glenfiddich was ideally placed to meet the increased demand following the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, thus strengthening its reputation in the United States. Glenfiddich is known to respond well to tough times and, when the whisky industry collapsed in the 1960s and 1970s, the company again expanded production and began a series of advertising campaigns actively marketing the whisky as a Single Malt, in its famous triangular bottle.
The distillery has an extensive infrastructure; the 28 stills can produce 10 million litres of spirits per year, making Glenfiddich Scotland's largest distillery. Glenfiddich's parent company, William Grant & Sons, also owns the Balvenie Distillery, as well as Grant's Blend, Hendrick's Gin and Drambuie Liqueur.
Project XX is part of the Experimental Series of Glenfiddich. It was created by the distillery’s 20 brand ambassadors: each selected a cask and master blender Brian Kinsman combined them to create this expression. It comes from a combination of Sherry casks, American Oak and Bourbon barrels.
