Version Française - La Roche aux Fées 2017 - 46%
Version Française is a La Maison du Whisky négoce range, made up of French spirits. The aim is to favour short circuits and encourage local consumption.
Before making career into whisky, the Everts couple first distinguished themselves in the beer business. In 1996, they successfully set up the Brasserie Sainte-Colombe. In 2010, Henri Everts began the first distillation trials with a peddler distiller. In 2015, he acquired a still designed by a manufacturer from Nantes who ceased operations 50 years earlier. The must used to make the whisky is fermented by two strains of brewing yeast grown at the distillery. It is a blend of 175 kilos of barley malt and 50 kilos of wheat malt.
The second whisky selected for the Version Française range is a Single Malt aged in ex-white wine casks before continuing to age in ex-Bourbon casks. 306 bottles were produced.
