Champagne Chartogne Taillet - Heurtebise
Champagne Chartogne-Taillet is located in Merfy , in the Montagne de Reims in Champagne . The estate has existed since 1683, when the Taillet family began to cultivate vines in Merfy. It is still a family estate, managed by Alexandre Chartogne-Taillet since 2006. The 11 hectares of the vineyard are divided into 13 distinct plots on a clayey-sandy soil. Alexandre Chartogne-Taillet uses organic farming methods and has given up the application of synthetic herbicides, but is not certified.
The Les Heurtes Bises plot is made up of Thanetian sand mixed with clay on sandstone. The vine, located on a windy plateau, faces south. Of the 5.80 hectares of land, 1.67 are planted with Chardonnay (83%), Pinot Noir (12%) and Meunier (5%) grape varieties. The Heurtebise cuvée is made entirely from Chardonnay , aged in 228 liter Burgundy barrels for 9 to 18 months .
