Château La Freynelle - Clairet 2021
Château La Freynelle belongs to Vignobles Véronique Barthe . In 1789, Jean Barthe chose Naujan-et-Postiac, a hilly land in Entre-Deux-Mers in Bordeaux, to plant his first vines. From 1945, Philippe Barthe was in charge of the Vineyards for more than 40 years before bequeathing the property to his daughter Véronique in 1990. Today, the property extends over 80 hectares of vines, it is equipped with a modern and technological winery. The “park” of barrels is made up of around a hundred pieces of stave oak from French forests.
Bordeaux Clairet, heir to the French Claret, was the first wine produced in Bordeaux. Clairet de La Freynelle is made from Cabernet Sauvignon harvested at maturity. It is scraped and crushed, then put in vats. After 24 to 48 hours of maceration, the vat is “ bleeded ”: 10% of the juice is removed to ferment in stainless steel vats at low temperature, and the rest of the vat thus concentrated will be vinified to obtain Château Freynelle Rouge. Clairet is aged on fine lees until bottling.
Grape variety: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
