Jérôme Bretaudeau - Domaine de Bellevue - Granite - Clos des Perrières 2023
The Domaine de Bellevue is managed by Jérôme Bretaudeau, an emblematic winemaker of the Nantes vineyard, recognized for having profoundly renewed the image of Muscadet. Located in Gétigné, southeast of Nantes, he has been working for many years on a mosaic of terroirs with rare rigor, placing the soil at the center of each cuvée. Jérôme Bretaudeau is a winemaker of convictions, attentive to natural balances, precise maturities, and the most faithful expression of the place. The estate is run in biodynamics, with a highly detailed parcel approach, where each wine tells a story of rock, depth, and time. Domaine de Bellevue is now an essential reference for lovers of great Loire white wines from terroir.
The cuvée Granite – Clos des Perrières 2023 comes from an emblematic walled vineyard of the estate, planted on a shallow granite soil, which gives the wine its tension and verticality. This wine is made from Melon de Bourgogne, the historic grape variety of Muscadet, here elevated to a remarkable level of precision and complexity. The 2023 vintage allows a balanced expression, combining fruit maturity and natural freshness. The vinification is carefully conducted with a low-intervention approach to preserve the energy of the soil and aromatic purity. The aging, precise and patient, supports the wine without ever masking its origin, enhancing the sensation of depth and structure. Clos des Perrières is a cuvée of character, designed for gastronomy and long aging.
On tasting, Granite – Clos des Perrières 2023 impresses with its uprightness and controlled intensity. The nose evokes ripe citrus, fresh pear, and white flowers, supported by a very clear mineral frame, almost stony. The palate is taut, ample, and deeply saline, with a texture both chiseled and enveloping. The wine stretches with precision, leaving a persistent sensation of purity and depth. The finish is long, vibrant, and mineral, a signature of great granite soils. This wine ideally accompanies oysters, noble fish, shellfish, or refined gastronomic cuisine, and has an excellent aging potential, gaining complexity over the years.
