Champagne Nowack - Fontinette - Extra Brut
The Nowack Champagnes, established in Vandières in the Marne Valley, embody a demanding parcel-based approach led by Flavien Nowack, heir to a lineage of winemakers since 1795. On the 3.6 hectares of the estate, work focuses mainly on Pinot Meunier, the house's signature grape variety, grown on varied soils revealing the full richness of the Marne terroir. Each parcel is isolated and vinified separately to precisely express its own identity. Vinifications are carried out rigorously, often with aging in wood, and dosages are deliberately low to preserve tension and purity. The Fontinette cuvée fully embodies this precise and elegant vision of the terroir.
Fontinette Extra Brut 2021 is a 100% Pinot Meunier, from the parcel La Fontinette, composed of sands and clays. The base of the 2021 vintage, aged in barrels, brings depth and complexity, with a slight woody note linked to the integration of a few new barrels perfectly blended. This vintage stands out for a more taut, straight, and lively profile than the previous one, revealing a subtle balance between freshness and body. The bubbles, fine and delicate, are the connecting thread of Nowack champagnes. The Extra Brut dosage highlights the precision and natural brightness of the wine.
On tasting, the Champagne seduces with its luminous brilliance and refined expression. The nose reveals notes of fresh white fruits, enhanced by a subtly toasted touch from the aging. The palate is lively, chiseled, and elegant, driven by mineral tension and beautiful energy. The finish is clean, persistent, and very fine. Ideal for a festive meal or a special moment, it can also be cellared and will fully flourish between 2028 and 2030.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Meunier
