Château Le Puy - Marie Cécile 2025
Château Le Puy Marie-Cécile 2025 is one of the most unique white wines from the right bank of Bordeaux. Owned by the Amoreau family for over four centuries, Château Le Puy holds a special place in the Bordeaux landscape, far from standardized models and demonstrative vinifications. The estate cultivates a deeply lively vision of wine, based on biodiversity, soils, indigenous yeasts, and minimal intervention in the cellar. Marie-Cécile pays tribute to a family figure of the estate, recognized for her role as a winemaker during the 1870 war. This rare white cuvée expresses an unexpected facet of Château Le Puy, more confidential than the great red wines Émilien or Barthélemy. The 2025 vintage continues this tradition with a dry white of character, free, natural, and deeply original. It is a bottle intended for lovers of extraordinary Bordeaux, pure Sémillon, and gastronomic whites with strong personality.
Marie-Cécile 2025 is made exclusively from Sémillon, a historic grape variety of the great Bordeaux whites. Here, it is not worked in a woody or classic style, but in a much freer, natural, and textured expression. The vinification and aging are carried out in seasoned barrels, with dynamization conducted according to certain phases of the moon. This method, unique to the estate, aims to accompany the wine without constraining it, enhancing its depth, texture, and expressive capacity. The absence of added sulfur gives this cuvée a particularly lively, sensitive, and immediate profile. Marie-Cécile does not seek the sharp tension of a Sauvignon, but fullness, suppleness, ripe fruit, and a delicate minerality on the finish. The result is a rare, ample, and singular dry white that demands attentive tasting and careful service.
In the glass, this great white wine reveals a luminous golden robe, sometimes slightly amber according to the natural evolution of the wine. The nose evokes ripe pear, white peach, exotic flowers, light honey, soft citrus, and a touch of warm stone. The palate is full, supple, and enveloping, with a tight framework that provides structure to the whole. The Sémillon gives a sensation of volume and tactile softness without tipping into heaviness. The finish extends the white fruit, flowers, noble bitters, and a fine, almost saline minerality. This white is best enjoyed young, ideally within two hours of opening to preserve its brightness and elegance. It will perfectly accompany seafood, a noble fish, turbot, poultry tagine, sashimi, blue cheese, aged tomme, or lightly spiced cuisine.
