Domaine Jean Claude Ramonet - Chassagne Montrachet Rouge 2022
The Domaine Jean-Claude Ramonet is one of the most respected names in Chassagne-Montrachet, in the Côte de Beaune, worldwide renowned for the precision and longevity of its wines. A historic family estate, it is now run by Noël and Jean-Claude Ramonet, heirs to a know-how passed down through several generations. The vineyard extends over carefully selected plots, mostly located on the limestone slopes of Chassagne-Montrachet, benefiting from ideal exposures. The work in the vineyard is rigorous, with controlled yields and constant attention paid to the ripeness of the grapes. The vinifications favor precision and balance, never forcing extraction, in order to respect the identity of the terroir. The Ramonet style is distinguished by great purity of expression and remarkable aging potential, including for the red cuvées.
The Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge 2022 is made exclusively from Pinot Noir, coming from plots planted on clay-limestone soils typical of the appellation. While Chassagne-Montrachet is primarily famous for its great whites, its reds are among the finest and most elegant of the Côte de Beaune, offering a refined and subtle interpretation of Pinot Noir. The 2022 vintage, marked by beautiful ripeness and excellent sanitary condition, gives birth to a balanced, precise, and expressive wine. The vinification is carried out delicately to preserve the freshness of the fruit and the finesse of the tannins. The aging is conducted with restraint, allowing the wine to gain complexity without masking its character. This cuvée perfectly illustrates the often underestimated potential of Chassagne-Montrachet reds.
On the palate, the wine reveals an elegant nose of ripe red fruits, cherry and raspberry, complemented by floral notes and a slightly spicy touch. The mouth is supple and silky, supported by a fine framework and a beautiful freshness that balances the body. The tannins are delicate, perfectly integrated, and support a harmonious and refined structure. The finish is clean, persistent, and marked by a discreet but well-present minerality. This Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge will ideally accompany roasted poultry, white meats, or elegant Burgundian cuisine. It can also evolve favorably over several years, gaining complexity and depth.
