Domaine Les Poëte - Orphée 2022

Located in Preuilly, in Berry, Domaine Les Poëte is the work of Guillaume Sorbe, a former sommelier turned winemaker, who has chosen to dedicate his work to expressing the terroirs of Central Loire. Coming from a family of winemakers, he has developed since the creation of the estate an approach based on precision, biodiversity, and measured intervention, summarized by his motto "Less but better." His plots are set in an environment where the vine coexists with trees, meadows, and natural spaces, promoting a particularly sought-after ecological balance. Orphée is one of the emblematic cuvées of the estate and belongs to the Reuilly appellation, a historic vineyard located between the valleys of the Arnon and the Cher. This red wine highlights Pinot Noir, a grape variety that finds on the clay-limestone terroirs of Reuilly a favorable environment for gradual ripening and elegant expression. The name of the cuvée, borrowed from Greek mythology, fits into the poetic universe that accompanies all the creations of the estate. Orphée thus illustrates Guillaume Sorbe's ability to produce Loire reds with character, favoring fruit finesse and freshness rather than power.

Orphée 2022 is made exclusively from Pinot Noir, grown on selected plots for their ability to express the delicacy and depth of the grape variety. Vineyard work prioritizes soil preservation and natural yield control to obtain balanced and concentrated grapes without excessive ripeness. Harvesting is carried out with particular attention to the sanitary quality of the clusters and the preservation of the fruit. Vinification seeks a gentle extraction, adapted to the finesse of Pinot Noir, to maintain an elegant tannic structure. Aging then supports the refinement of the texture and the integration of the different components of the wine, without seeking a dominant woody presence. The 2022 vintage, marked by a hot and dry summer in Central Loire, allowed the grapes to be ripe and expressive while maintaining the freshness essential to balance. Orphée 2022 should thus combine a more generous body than that of fresh vintages with the precision that constitutes the estate's signature.

Orphée 2022 offers a delicate and expressive profile, dominated by red cherry, raspberry, and wild strawberry, accompanied by floral and slightly spicy nuances. Upon aeration, notes of peony, sweet pepper, and undergrowth can gradually enrich this aromatic palette. On the palate, the attack is supple and elegant, with a silky body supported by fresh and well-integrated acidity. The tannins, fine and delicately structuring, give the wine enough depth without masking the purity of the fruit. The finish favors precision and freshness, with a pleasant persistence on small red fruits and spices. Already appealing in its youth, Orphée 2022 also has the capacity to gain complexity after a few years in the bottle. It will ideally accompany roasted poultry, pork tenderloin, veal with mushrooms, roasted pigeon, or soft cheese.
