Domaine Morey Coffinet - Puligny-Montrachet - 1er Cru Les Pucelles 2024
The Domaine Morey-Coffinet, based in Chassagne-Montrachet in Côte de Beaune, is distinguished by excellent viticulture conducted in certified organic farming FR-BIO-01. Soil work is carried out with rigor, notably here by horse plowing, promoting respect for the terroir and deep rooting. Harvesting is manual and yields are controlled to preserve purity and concentration. In the cellar, vinifications are minimally interventionist, seeking tension, precision, and faithful expression of the climates. Each premier cru is vinified with the same rigor as the domain's grands crus, often in a limited production.
The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles 2024 comes from a rare plot of 0.20 hectare, located on an east-facing lower slope, on soils of clay and limestone. The vines, planted in 1999, are managed with simple Guyot and Poussard, ensuring balance and longevity. Made exclusively from Chardonnay, the wine benefits from a 14 to 16 months aging in 350-liter barrels, including 50% new wood, bringing depth and complexity. It is bentonite fined, unfiltered, then bottled with a natural cork of Fleur ND Tech quality, sealed with wax, aiming for optimal longevity. This micro-production enhances the precious and sought-after character of the cuvée.
On the palate, Les Pucelles 2024 reveals a very fine nose, blending ripe citrus, white flowers, and white-fleshed fruits, highlighted by subtle notes of hazelnut and warm stone. The mouth is ample and vibrant, driven by a chiseled mineral tension and remarkable energy. The balance between controlled richness and structuring freshness gives the wine depth and elegance. The finish is long, saline, and refined, a signature of the great premier crus of Puligny-Montrachet. This wine will ideally be appreciated between 4 and 8 years after bottling, while offering a superior aging potential.
