Anniversary Cuvée No. 2 follows this approach by unveiling a rum from an iconic distillery of the heavy Caribbean style, whose HMPDN signature refers to a rare technical tradition, marked by extended fermentations and a unique distillation process.
Distilled in 2014 and bottled at cask strength, this Hampden <>H rum from the 2014 vintage comes in at 62.90%. It thus preserves the natural concentration acquired over the years, revealing a dense, vibrant distillate crafted for lovers of great aromatic sensations. Tropical then continental aging has shaped a structure that is both powerful and deeply balanced, where the richness of the High Ester profile combines with the precision of the wood. Aged 5 years in the tropics and 6 years on the continent.
On tasting, the nose opens with a profusion of aromas, blending explosive notes of very ripe exotic fruits, caramelized pineapple, noble solvent, and black olive paste. Gradually, darker nuances appear, between deep molasses, supple leather, and heated resin. The palate is immediately full, broad, and concentrated. The perfectly integrated alcohol carries flavors of vibrant esters, candied fruits, licorice, and roasted spices. The ample and vibrant texture gives the rum an almost oily dimension. The finish lingers with impressive persistence, marked by aromatic tension blending varnish, stewed fruits, and elegant warmth.
