François Mitjavile, magician and discreet winemaker of the famous Tertre-Roteboeuf, presents his Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 1988. Tertre is above all a magical terroir: 5.68 ha with 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. An extreme clay-limestone terroir, little water in the subsoil, almost exotic. Vines planted at 5555 vines / ha, the roots perfectly colonize the space. François practices responsible, thoughtful agriculture there, adapted to this circus-shaped plot. The very precise sizes allow full maturity in a very homogeneous way. François also has great loyalty with a cooperage: Radoux. The common work accomplished has resulted in a goldsmith's result in terms of breeding.
ROTEBOEUF, this name comes from the oxen which, while plowing this plot, burped so much the places are steep. Tertre-Roteboeuf is also a modest building and clay cellars. We are quite close to the Burgundy spirit.
The Wine: dense and elegant, silky and integrated tannins ... Always exceptional, sometimes magical !!
