LE CLOS DU CAILLOU - LES SAFRES 2014
This 2014 vintage is a continuation of the 2013 vintage, offering wines with great freshness.
This vintage started with a mild and rainy winter, which allowed water reserves to be replenished, followed by a hot and dry spring (1 ° C above average). All the parameters have therefore been met to make it possible to claim an early harvest, with a production potential greater than a normal harvest.
Due to a summer punctuated by rains, cool nights and less than average sunshine for the season, in a few weeks the vintage lost its precocity to become one of the latest. The rains that occurred at the end of the harvest required us to be vigilant in sorting the grapes, thus reducing the expected yields.
This 2014 vintage is therefore characterized by fruity, balanced wines, less alcoholic than average (-1% vol), on ample, round mouths with fine and well-incorporated tannins. The whites show good acidity, offering wines with good tension. 2014 suggests good aging potential for those who will have the patience to keep them long enough.
