The Friars Monks - The Complete 2017
French wine
The Frères Moine adventure began in 1980. François and his brother Jean-Yves settled in Villeneuve, commune of Chassors, about twenty kilometers north of Cognac. This name was born, the Frères Moine, which still resonates today as an institution in the landscape of family properties in Cognac. For 25 years, the two men will patiently explore all the richness of their vineyard in order to produce high quality cognacs, Pineaux des Charentes and Charentais wines.
François passed on his passion for the vineyard to his two sons, Yann and Gabriel, who today continue the work of the Friars Monk without altering the name. Each with his personality and his career brings his new ideas and his stone to the building solidly anchored in tradition.
The estate has 40 hectares of vines: 32 hectares of Ugni Blanc grape variety for the production of cognac and Pineau des Charentes blanc, 4 hectares of Merlot and 2 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon for the production of Pineaux des Charentes rosé and wines from country. Finally, they cultivate 2 hectares of Chenin Blanc for the production of white country wines, as well as a few ares of Gamay and Colombard.
This wine comes from our old vines with multiple grape varieties (Gamay, Alicante bouschet, Cabernet sauvignon, Merlot)
