Château GRAND-PUY-LACOSTE 1998
Grand-Puy-Lacoste is not owned by a large company, the Borie family has owned the castle since 1978. The name of Grand-Puy comes from the old expression "puy" which means “mound, small heigh”, and this terroir is already mentioned in documents dating from the Middle Ages.
Grand-Puy-Lacoste was classified Grand Cru in 1855 and is then part of the "elite" of Bordeaux wines.
Grand-Puy-Lacoste is located on the terroir of Pauillac, and the estate is spread over 90 hectares including 58 hectares planted with vines : 75% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc in accordance with sustainable farming.
Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 1998 is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot with an average age of 38 years. The harvest is manual and the grapes are sorted before and after destemming. Fermentation lasts about three weeks and the aging takes place in French oak barrels (50% new wood) for 16 to 18 months.
