Château RAYMOND LAFON 1981
The property was created in the middle of the 19th century by Raymond Lafon. Château Raymond-Lafon, of too recent creation, could not therefore be distinguished during the classification of 1855. In 1972, Francine and Pierre Meslier become owners of the castle. Since 1990 it is their children, Marie-Françoise, Charles-Henri and Jean-Pierre who continue the work of their parents.
The property of Château Raymond-Lafon covers 18 hectares in the Sauternes appellation, of which 16 hectares are in production. Most of the plots are grouped around the Château, in the municipalities of Sauternes, Bommes and Preignac. The planted grape varieties are 80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon, the average age of which is around 35 years.
The harvest is done grape by grape, by successive sorting (from three to 10 passages) of botrytised grapes. Aging in oak barrels lasts three years.
