VECCHIE TERRE DI MONTEFILI 2000 - Bruno Di Rocca
In 1979, Roccaldo Acuti, a textile manufacturer from Prato, bought the Vecchie Terre di Montefili estate, owned by the Abbey of Badia di Passignano in the 12th century. Since the 1980s, Roccaldo Acuti has marked Tuscany's emerging wine culture. His successors, his daughter Maria and her husband Tommaso, however had to part with this exceptional domain for medical reasons.
Since 2015, Nicola Marzovilla is the owner of Vecchie Terre di Montefili. He called on a young and very competent agronomist and oenologist, Serena Gusmeri. Their main objective remains a culture as natural as possible. Serena cultivates the vines according to organic principles but renounces any certification of the wines.
Bruno Di Rocca is a wine made by Vecchie Terre Di Montefili. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (80%) and Sangiovese (20%). The vinification happens in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. The aging lasts for 28 months minimum in small barrels (10 hectolitres), tonneaux (5 hectolitres) and 5% in barriques. The wine is bottled then undergoes a bottle-ageing of 12 months minimum.
