Château Tire Pé - L'Echapée - Castet et Mancin des Palus 2017 Bordeaux
Château Tire Pé - L'Echapée - Castet and Mancin des Palus 2017
Here is the second vintage of this extraordinary vintage. A blend of two ancestral grape varieties from the Bordeaux region, now endangered: Le castet et le mancin des palus.
Le castet: discovered around 1870 in Gironde is said to come from the small village of Castets en Dorthe, located a stone's throw from the estate! Quickly, this variety experienced a boom in the Aquitaine vineyard, with a solid reputation, then was forgotten after the ravages of phylloxera around 1880, (insect responsible for the destruction of a very large part of the French vineyard).
Le mancin des palus: also a very old Gironde variety, it could come from medieval times; In 1871, writings relate to us the beautiful reputation of this grape variety, then dominating in some great vintages of Graves and Médoc! Today it has almost disappeared.
Aromas of wild berries, liquorice, white flowers, spices; fleshy and "crunchy" mouth
Grape varieties: 50% Castet and 50% Mancin des Palus
