Domaine Chantal Lescure - Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru - Les Damodes 2018
Domaine Chantal Lescure is located in the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges, in Burgundy. Founded in 1975 by Chantal Lescure and Xavier Machard de Gramont, the family estate now operates 19 hectares of vines, to the north on the slopes of Dijon and to the south as far as Meursault. Aymeric and Thibault Machard de Gramont, Chantal Lescure's two sons, took over the estate when their mother passed away in 1996. Each year, they produce 19 cuvées from 35 plots. The vineyard has been fully cultivated in certified organic farming since 2006.
Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Damodes is made from Pinot Noir from an altitude plot (320 meters) located to the north of the appellation and facing east on a very hard pink limestone slab. The grapes are harvested by hand when ripe, then they are destemmed, not crushed and vatted by gravity. A pre-fermentation maceration is carried out for 3 to 4 days. Fermentation is gentle and long, using indigenous yeasts. Light punching down is carried out and the fermentation lasts 20 to 25 days. The wines are aged in a cold cellar, in 30 to 50% new barrels. They are then racked and the batch is blended and bottled after 16 to 18 months.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
