Château Grange Cochard - Morgon Côte du Py 2019
Château Grange Cochard is located in Morgon, in the Beaujolais region. Succeeding a British couple, James and Sarah Wilding, Jean-Philippe Sleeves takes over the 8.5-hectare vineyard accompanied by Jean-Philippe Janoueix, a talented and experienced Bordeaux winegrower. The vines, planted on the most beautiful plots in the region, including the summit of the prestigious Côte du Py, are between 40 and 100 years old. They practice sustainable viticulture, with a minimum intervention policy using natural agricultural methods to nourish the soil and maintain a healthy and balanced ecosystem.
The Côte du Py cuvée comes from two plots of old Gamay vines. The harvest is manual, the grapes are carefully sorted and, on average, 10% of the harvest is rejected. The vinification is traditional for the region: semi-carbonic maceration in vats, with 1/3 of whole bunches. Aging lasts 11 months, 2/3 in foudre and 1/3 in barrels.
Grape variety: 100% Gamay
