Toro Albalá - Don PX Selección Reserva Especial 1949
Bodegas Toro Albalá is located in the Montilla-Moriles district, in Andalucia, Spain. It was established in 1922 by Jose María Toro Albalá, but its roots date back to an estate that was founded in 1844 by Albalá's grandfather, Antonio Sánchez Prieto. He was the first producer to commercialise Pedro Ximénez as a single-variety wine. In the 1980s, the winery was taken over by its current owner and oenologist, Antonio Sánchez Romero. He set aside 1,200 oak casks for aging vinegar, and also sells Arrope syrup made from Pedro Ximenéz, both under Toro Albalá's gourmet selection.
Toro Albalá produce a range of vintage-dated single-vineyard Pedro Ximenéz, all with a minimum of 25 years in oak, and some dating back to before the Spanish Civil War.
Grape variety: 100% Pedro Ximenéz
