Champagne Charles Mignon - Cuvée Comte de Marne Grand Cru
Champagne Charles Mignon is a family estate founded by Bruno and Laurence Mignon. The Mignon family comes from a line of winegrowers from Mesnil-le-Huttier, a small hamlet of Festigny, a village a few kilometers from Epernay, the capital of Champagne. The Marne Valley vineyard runs along the Côte des Blancs, renowned for the quality of its Chardonnay. Champagne Charles Mignon has vines in the heart of the Grands Crus village of Chouilly. Contract growers supply Pinot Noir from a variety of Premier and Grand Cru sites, as well as the Côte des Blancs Chardonnay. The small but modern wine cellar is equipped with temperature-controlled stainless steel vats and the wines undergo their second fermentation in the bottle in vaulted stone cellars.
The Cuvée Comte de Marne Brut Grand Cru is a blend of a single harvest of Chardonnay (70%) and Pinot Noir (30%) from the first presses of the classified Grand Cru terroirs of the Montagne de Reims (Louvois) and the Côte of the Whites (Avize, Cramant and Chouilly). The grapes are harvested by hand, pressed near the vineyard and fermented in small capacity stainless steel vats. The dosage is 7 g/L to preserve freshness and fruit, then the wine is aged for 36 to 48 months.
Grape varieties: 70% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir
