Château Cru Cantemerle 2012
Cru Cantemerle is located in Saint-Gervais, in the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation. The Bordeaux Cru Cantemerle wine is very old, as evidenced by historical references such as Feret in 1868. The property was taken over in 1998 by the Mabille family, whose two brothers are oenologist technicians. Very important restructuring work on the vineyard and the cellar was then carried out for the greatest benefit of the wines. It was in 2003 that the Mignon family, already merchants-manipulators in Champagne wines, acquired 6 hectares in Saint-André-de-Cubzac to entrust their exploitation to the Mabille family. The vineyard was completed in 2012 with the acquisition of 12 additional hectares, reducing the average age of the vines to 25 years. The clay-limestone terroir benefits from a microclimate thanks to the reverberations of the Dordogne and thus makes it possible to obtain quality grapes, through early maturation and low risk of frost. After a period of reasoned pest management, it is now integrated pest management very respectful of the environment that is practiced in the vineyard.
The Cuvée Prestige 2012 is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The grapes from the best plots are harvested at maximum maturity and the harvest is sorted by hand. Subsequently, a long pre-fermentation maceration is carried out in stainless steel and concrete vats. The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels.
Grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec
