Château SUDUIRAUT 2007
Château Suduiraut is located in Preignac, in the Sauternes appellation of the Bordeaux wine region. It was classifiedPremier Cru Classé in 1855. The domain took the name of Suduiraut in 1580, following the marriage of Nicole d'Allard with Léonard de Suduiraut. AXA Millésimes bought Château Suduiraut in 1992. Certified High Environmental Value(HVE), the estate is made up of 91 hectares of vines on a sandy clay soil. The stones capture the heat of the sun and thus allow the grapes to reach maturity more quickly. The proximity of the vineyard to the Ciron and the Garonne provides ideal conditions for an excellent development of the noble rot of Botrytis Cinerea. The development of Botrytis Cinerea is very random and does not affect all the vines at the same time. This requires careful and exclusively manual collection by part of the bunch to follow the evolution of over-ripening. The harvest is staggered over time, up to 5 times between the end of September and mid-November.
Château Suduiraut 2007 is a blend of Sémillon (95%) and Sauvignon Blanc (5%). In the cellar, pressing is long and delicate to extract the richest juices, before vinification and slow aging in oak barrels (35% in new barrels, 35% in one-wine barrels and 30% in old barrels), where the wine will remain for 20 months. The different batches are then selected for the blend.
Grape varieties: 95% Sémillon, 5% Sauvignon Blanc
