Champagne Veuve Clicquot - Reserve Cuvée
Veuve Clicquot is a Champagne House located in Reims, in Champagne . It was founded in 1772 and is credited with inventing the riddling process, which removes lees and gave finished wines a clear appearance. The Maison was founded by Philippe Clicquot in 1772 on the sidelines of his successful textile business, but became the region's second largest Champagne producer under his daughter-in-law, Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin . François Clicquot died in 1805 but Barbe-Nicole continued alone and, with the help of investments from her father-in-law and some clever wine smuggling to Tsar Alexander I of Russia. Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin is now owned by Louis Vuitton Möet Hennessy ( LVMH ). The House now owns one of the largest Champagne vineyards: 390 hectares spread over 12 of the 17 Grands Crus and 20 of the 44 Premiers Crus in Champagne. The entire Veuve Clicquot vineyard is managed using sustainable viticulture.
