Château PONTET-CANET 2002
Château Pontet-Canet is located in Pauillac , in the Médoc of the Bordeaux region. It was classified Fifth Grand Cru Classé in the Bordeaux classification of 1855. Pontet-Canet has been owned by the Tesseron family since 1975. The vines of Pontet-Canet cover 81 hectares on around a hundred plots. In 2004, the first 14 hectares of Pontet-Canet were converted to biodynamics. After this conclusive trial, the following year, it was decided to convert the entire vineyard. In 2010, the wines of the Château are certified in organic and biodynamic agriculture .
Pontet-Canet 2002 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (32%), Cabernet Franc (2%) and Petit Verdot (1%) . The 2002 vintage was marked by dry growing conditions with a lackluster summer. Flowering and then ripening came late. On the other hand, the month of September, exceptionally hot and dry, allowed exceptional ripening conditions, particularly beneficial to the Cabernet Sauvignon.
