Domaine CASTERA - Tauzy - Jurançon Sec 2021
The Domaine Castéra is located in Monein, between the Pyrenees and the Atlantic in the Jurançon . The Lihour family acquired the property in 1885. After Pierrette and Christian , it was Franck Lihour , who, on the strength of his past experiences around the world, settled in turn at the estate in 2014. Peasant winegrowers from father to son, they cultivate 12 hectares of vines perched on hillsides at an altitude of 300 m. The "Domaine" cuvées are traditional and created by Christian while the "Parcellaires" cuvées are produced by Franck. The vineyard has been certified organic since the 2021 vintage.
Jurançon Sec Tauzy 2021 is a blend of Petit Manseng, Gros Manseng and Petit Courbu , planted on clay-siliceous soils with degraded ferric gravel and red clay. The vines are exposed to the northeast and east, on slopes varying between 5 and 27%. The grapes are harvested manually and fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts. Vinification and aging are carried out on total lees in wooden containers of different volumes and in sandstone eggs.
