RHUM HSE - Cuvée Confrérie du Rhum 2023 - Brut de Fût - French Oak Copper Mist - Vintage 2007 - 47.6%
HSE ( Habitation Saint Etienne ) was known as Habitation La Maugée and dates from 1863. It was then a Martinican sugar refinery, but Amedée Aubery converted it into a distillery when he bought it in 1882. This young Captain of Industry then modernized the buildings and supplied the estate with energy thanks to the Lézarde river, which is still used today to dilute the sugar cane juice.
In 1994, Yves and José Hayot bought the property after the former owners went into receivership and carried out new renovation work in the house. The property is then classified as a Historic Monument . Saint-Etienne rum is distilled in a traditional Creole type copper column from the Simon distillery located in François (Martinique).
This extra-old agricultural rum was selected on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Confrérie du Rhum and celebrates the 70th anniversary of its co-founder, Jerry Gitany . This 2007 vintage is the result of aging in unique selected oak barrels ( #FRA2103-01) of 400 liters having benefited from a unique toasting "Brume Cuivrée" , innovated by their cooper partner. Only 600 bottles were produced.
