Domaine CASTERA - Caubeigt - Jurançon Moelleux 2021
The Domaine Castéra is located in Monein, between the Pyrenees and the Atlantic in the Jurançon . The Lihour family acquired the property in 1885. After Pierrette and Christian , it was Franck Lihour , who, on the strength of his past experiences around the world, settled in turn at the estate in 2014. Peasant winegrowers from father to son, they cultivate 12 hectares of vines perched on hillsides at an altitude of 300 m. The "Domaine" cuvées are traditional and created by Christian while the "Parcellaires" cuvées are produced by Franck. The vineyard has been certified organic since the 2021 vintage.
Caubeigt Moelleux is made from Petit Manseng , planted between 1977 and 2000 in the place called Caubeigt. The grapes are harvested manually by sorting in early November and then slowly pressed into whole bunches. The wine is aged on total lees in wooden containers of different volumes and in sandstone eggs.
