Domaine Henry Fuchs - Les Sources - Pinot Gris 2022
Domaine Henry Fuchs is located in Ribeauvillé, Alsace . It has been owned by the Fuchs family for several generations. The estate covers 10.5 hectares and is certified organic . The plots are located in the municipalities of Ribeauvillé, Hunawihr and Bergheim, known for their marl-limestone terroirs. Harvesting is carried out by hand, the grapes are pressed in whole bunches, and fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts. No herbicides or chemical fertilizers are used, which helps preserve biodiversity and soil quality.
Les Sources is made from Pinot Gris from the Rengelsbrunn area. The marl-limestone-sandstone terroir has shallow, stony soil upstream from the Kirchberg Grand Cru, where ripening is late due to an altitude of 380 meters and the cold winds that come down from the valley. The average age of the vines is 25 years. After manual harvesting, pressing is carried out in whole bunches. Fermentation takes place in two 500-liter demi-muids; one new and one 1 year old. The wine is aged for 8 months on fine lees in acacia barrels .
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Gris
