Whiskey MICHEL COUVREUR - 2008 Single Cask Whiskey - Distilled in 2008, 16 years Colheita Port Pipe from Niepoort - 50.25%
Independent bottler Michel Couvreur was originally a Burgundy wine producer and merchant. He turned to the world of whisky in 1978 and distilled for the first time in Edradour in 1986. At the time, he wanted to buy a distillery in Scotland but his wife opposed it and they decided to settle in Bouze-Lès-Beaune , halfway between Scotland and Andalusia, and to intervene in the maturation of whiskies; mainly in Sherry and Port casks. The range is very varied and meticulous work of blending, selection of new casks, unusual techniques is undertaken daily. Since his death in 2013, his son-in-law Cyril Deschamps and his wife Alexandra have continued Michel Couvreur's work.
This single malt was distilled in 2008 and aged for the last 8 years in casks that previously contained Niepoort Colheita Port.
Unpeated
" An exceptional single cask, where the character of the malt meets the sweetness of Niepoort Colheita Port. This unpeated whisky reveals a deep mahogany color and a generous nose blending dried fruits, roasted fig, cocoa, and precious wood."
